It's very exciting organising an event and sometimes you just can't wait to get the ball rolling when it comes to entertainment, even if you don't know quite what you want (or whether you have approval to book anyone at all!). So how can you make sure that the process goes as smoothly as possible? It's important to remember that most of the time when you're engaging performers/ agencies/ artists, you are dealing with small business owners - sole traders who do all of their own admin and invoicing, emailing and promotion. They don't get paid unless the booking goes ahead so it's best practice to make sure your event can actually facilitate performers or entertainers before enagaging the performer/agency/ company in a proposal or booking process.

Checklist before enagaging an artist:
  
- Make sure you have all of the required approvals before letting the agency/ company/ performer know you wish to go ahead
- Consider where the performers will get changed, take breaks and leave their personal belongings throughout the booking. (Ask yourself where you would feel comfortable getting dressed for work, taking breaks, eating lunch and leaving your bag to get an idea of an appropriate space. Would you take your work lunch break in a public toilet?) 
- Refine and clarify the scope of the booking, and your budget, before contacting performers
- Check the performer's/agency's website first and be clear about what it is they offer that you are intersted in
- Be prepared to pay a travel fee if you are located outside a CBD area 
- Have a back-up performance area in mind in case of wet or windy weather
- Only send supplier forms and admin once you are sure you are going ahead with the booking
- It is considered unethical to re-book a performer directly if you have previously booked them through an agency/company. This puts the artist in a compromising situation and can cost them future work and their reputation

Come on an inspiring 6-week hula hoop journey with us in Malvern East, where the emphasis is on fun, fitness, and perhaps even a touch of performance flair! Regardless of your skill level, Josie, with her 13 years of expertise, is here to tailor circus hula hooping skills and hoop dance moves to your liking. Whether you're a novice or an experienced hooper, our Melbourne hula hoop lessons are the perfect opportunity to discover your rhythm within the hoop while connecting with other wonderful hoopers.

For those well-versed in hooping, get ready to elevate your skills with off-body techniques, on-body splitting, and the art of twins or triples! Each class kicks off with a warm-up and essential basics to keep you hoop-fit, followed by the exploration of hula hoop tricks with intermediate and advanced variations. Naturally, we'll integrate your hoop dance moves, allowing you to seamlessly flow within the hula hoop. Join us in Melbourne for an enriching experience where you'll not only enhance your hooping prowess but also build a supportive community of fellow enthusiasts!

Our incredibly talented and experienced circus instructors hosted a series of circus workshops over the Easter Holidays at Springfield Orion as part of the Wonderpark film launch. The kids learned juggling, plate spinning and hula hooping skills as part of the circus activation and they couldn't get enough. Circus skills workshops are such a great addition to any corporate event or kids party! 

Our stilt walkers provide fun, colourful corporate event entertainment and the Wonderpark Film Launch was no exception! The kids loved this interactive entertainment and we can see why!! What a great circus party option or carnival themed event activation.

Our LED glow wing dancers lit up the night at the launch of the Racecourse Rd lights at their Light it Up event in Brisbane. The wing dancers always get a great response from kids and adults alike. The children love how interactive the roving performers are and think they look like fairies or angels! And the adults can't wait to photograph these dancing beauties as they create light effects with their LED wings. 

If you're looking for a fun, engaging and mentally stimulating activity to offer the kids for your school holiday program, circus workshops are the best way to entertain and educate your group. Not only are circus workshops super fun, but they are proven to be beneficial, giving kids the chance to exercise their skills in team work, co-operation, coordination and creativity in a non-competitive and rewarding environment. 

Puzzle Dust Entertainment offers programs in Byron Bay, Gold Coast and Brisbane and our instructors come to your school, OSHC or community centre and run 45 minute circus sessions for up to 25 kids in each group. If you have a large group we will come for a few hours and run multiple sessions. Its best to group your children by age so the instructor can provide the best activities to suit their psychomotor abilities. If you have a time limit we can send multiple circus instructors and run one large session divided into groups and do a round-robin style session.

What should you look for in a fire entertainer?

You want to make sure your fire performers have Public Liability Insurance and are professionals with years of experience before booking. The last thing you need is a fire disaster on your wedding day due to booking a cheap amateur! Definitely go with the experts on this one. There is very minimal risk with fire shows if you use experienced and professional local fire performers. You also want to think about how your photos will look and book entertainers with costumes to suit your wedding theme and venue backdrop.
